A leader in the Southern Transition Council (STC), a southern Yemeni separatist organisation, was killed on Wednesday morning in Shabwah province, southern Yemeni media outlets reported.
According to the media outlets, Hussain Khamis al-Khimar was found dead, under mysterious circumstances. No more details and information were given about his death so far.
On Monday, two militia members were injured in clashes that erupted in Ataq city, between Islah party (Muslim Brotherhood) militants and UAE-supported militias. Ataq, the capital of the province, has seen armed tension between the two sides, about control over the oil fields and wealth of the province.
The STC and its separatist militias are being funded and supported by the United Arab Emirates, while the Islah party receives backing from Saudi Arabia.
