ADEN – A military commander in the so-called Southern Resistance Forces on Wednesday has survived an assassination attempt in Aden province on Wednesday. This was confirmed by Yemen Press Agency, based on local sources.
According to the source, unknown gunmen on a Hilux vehicle fired shots towards a leader in the so-called southern resistance, named Fattah bin Ateeq al-Hari, injuring him.
The gunmen fled the scene after committing their crime, one of the sources said.
It is believed that al-Hari is affiliated with the Islah Party (the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, currently fighting on the side of Saudi Arabia).
The attack comes as a result of the security chaos in Aden and other occupied provinces in the south of Yemen, which has allowed armed militants to reinforce their positions in areas that are nominally under Saudi or Emirati control.
