MAHRAH – Saudi occupation forces have on Friday afternoon deployed warships on the shores of the occupied province of al-Mahrah, in the east of Yemen, local sources have told Yemen Press Agency.
According to the sources, Saudi warships have been deployed on the coast of the Hawf district, which is witnessing popular protests against plans to turn the UNESCO World Heritage Site into to a military barracks for Saudi occupation troops.
Four boats carrying weapons and soldiers arrived on the coast of Hawf on Friday, one of the sources said.
The Saudi forces established an observation tower on the shores of Hawf district a few months ago, near a Saudi forces barracks, which was built last year.
“Saudi Arabia has invaded the province of Al- Mahrah with its army,” Salem Ali Qarhaf, a Mahrah resident and anti-Saudi protester said. Qarhaf further mocked Saudi claims that it came for reconstruction, despite the fact that there was no conflict in the province.
