HODEIDAH – At least 13 soldiers and officers were killed on Thursday in clashes between different Saudi-led militias, local sources in Al-Kokha district have told Yemen Press Agency.
According to the sources, the clashes broke out after an officer loyal to the Saudi-led coalition was kidnapped.
The sources also pointed out that the clashes erupted as a result for the storming of a Special Forces camp in the district.
The clashes resulted in the kidnapping of a commander of the Special Forces loyal to the alliance, Brigadier General Sadiq Attieh, one of the sources said.
The sources furthermore indicated that the clashes started because of a disagreement about division of revenue from the taxes of qat, a local crop.
