MA’RIB – Informed sources have revealed that three turbines have stopped working in the gas pressure department at the oil company Safar in Ma’rib, which is carrying out the tasks of re-injecting gas into ground wells.
The sources said that on Wednesday, the gas company Safar stopped working because of a lack of regular maintenance.
They added that the suspension of turbines led to the burning of large quantities of gas produced on a daily basis, which aggravated the pollution if the environment and threatened the entire safety of the company as well as the continuity of production.
The sources confirmed that about 300 to 400 million cubic feet of gas are burned daily as a result of the failure of these three turbines.
More than 400 oil and gas wells are active in the Safar fields, currently under control of Islah Party militias.
