SHABWAH -Huge Saudi military reinforcements have arrived in the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwah province in south-eastern Yemen, in Tuesday, marking the second time in three days.
This was confirmed by Sputnik News, based on local sources.
According to the sources, a batch of armoured vehicles aboard tankers arrived in the city of Ataq coming from Saudi Arabia through the border port of Al-Wadiah in Hadhramaut province in eastern Yemen.
On Saturday, a group of 75 military vehicles had already arrived in Ataq, which was transferred by the exiled former president Hadi’s and Al-Ahmar’s forces to the coastal city of Shaqra in Khanfar district, east of Abyan province.
These reinforcements were meant to strengthen positions close to the points of contact with the UAE’s Southern Transitional Council militias.
Since the middle of last month, military tensions between the exiled Hadi’s forces, the Islah party on the one hand, and the southern separatist militias have escalated, after the latter took control of Aden and clashes broke out in Abyan and Shabwah provinces.
