SANA’A – Dubai TV, a satellite channel and mouthpiece of the UAE regime, broadcasted on November 5th a segment about the Hadi-regime’s attempted offensive in Northern Yemen. The news segment lasted a good few minutes, and spoke about the supposedly “army victories” against the “houthi rebels” in the north. The same song we’ve been told for 3 years, which usually never has its roots in factuality.
Yet something was odd with this particular news segment. The segment starts out by showing what appears to be soldiers air dropped by an army helicopter onto a hilltop. The TV channel claimed it was footage of Emirati fighters being air dropped onto the Maran mountain in Sa’adah province.
Yet Yemeni social media users were quick to dig into the data origins of this particular video clip.
The video, used by Dubai TV and branded to fit into their own agenda, is actually a video clip of Turkish soldiers being air dropped onto a kurdish mountain hilltop, during the ongoing battles between Turkish government forces and Kurdish guerilla groups.
The recent reveal has since sparked a huge reaction by Yemenis inside and outside of the Republic, pointing on the fact that the UAE and its allies are clearly losing in Yemen, so they have to come up with fake, fabricated or stolen video material to not lose face or morale.
Yemeni social media users are claiming this latest reveal of fabricated media as a “media victory” for the cause of the September 21st Revolution.
