SANA’A – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman reveals a continued crisis between Canada and Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he spoke to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the G20 summit to discuss Canadian-Saudi issues.
“I had a frank exchange with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince on the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, the case of human rights activists detained in the Kingdom and the recent diplomatic spat between Ottawa and Riyadh,” the Canadian Prime Minister told reporters.
Trudeau said that he told the Saudi crown prince about Canadia’s concerns and the need for better answers on the killing of Khashoggi, the CBC network reported.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry announced last week that they will impose sanctions on 17 Saudis who were involved in the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered in October.
The diplomatic crisis erupted between Saudi Arabia and Canada after Ottawa asked Riyadh to release activists detained in Saudis prisons.
